Clay County is a county in Florida on the northeast side of the state. It is directly southwest of Jacksonville, Florida. People who are looking at Clay County Homes or Clay County Properties should consider a number of amazing communities that offer terrific homes and safe, secure areas in Clay County. Today the communities of Fleming Island, Lakeside and Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace join Orange Park to make Clay County one of Jacksonville’s most popular suburbs.

 

When considering Clay County Real Estate, potential buyers are delighted to learn about the rich history of Clay County. Clay County was named after Henry Clay, former United States Senator from Kentucky on the last day of the year in 1858. The first battle in Clay County during the Civil War came in 1864 with the Confederates battling the Union Army. When the Civil War ended, the pleasant area brought a number of northerners to the vicinity for vacations. This occurred through the early 20th Century. Famous visitors to the area included Ulysses S. Grant, Chief Sitting Bull and Grover Cleveland. The military of the United States used Clay County for a number of functions including training and flight instruction. There are some great community parks where people come together and play football, soccer, baseball, softball and other sports. Intramural leagues are available for participation. The Bayard Point Conservation Area park has over 9,000 acres for people to do a number of activies, which include fishing, walking, horseback riding and much more.

 

 

A potential Clay County Home Buyer will be pleased to know that there are many activities in Clay County. The Orange Park Mall in Orange Park is a convenient mall to go shopping. There are a number of trendy stores to see and things to do. There is a movie theater with over 20 screens for people of all ages to find a movie that they like. History lovers can enjoy great museums and fascinating tours of the area. People can enjoy the Clay County Military Museum of North Florida and the always popular Historic Natural Spring.

 

When considering Real Estate in Clay County, consider the various events in the area. One of the biggest events celebrated in Clay Count is the Clay County Agricultural Fair. People of all ages can enjoy rides, great food, livestock, entertainment and much more. There are various contests for food, creativity and a variety of other things. The fair has been serving Clay County for over 25 years.

 

Clay County is a terrific county. It is close to Jacksonville, Florida, but is just far enough away to avoid the big city pressures.
